You Don't Need God

Equality. Skepticism.

I'm respectful as far and long as you are, friendly on the same condition. My blog isn't dedicated to any particular entity.

In an effort to be inclusive:

  • Fearing any religion, as an entity, is perfectly rational. Fearing all religions is rational.

Especially considering people get murdered and discriminated in the name of religion all  the time.

  • Assuming all members of a religion are murderers, crazy, nonsensical, is irrational.

You have to do the latter in order to do the former, which makes it irrational, too - not to mention that fear is an inherently irrational emotion. You cannot be rationally fearful.

If a guy is pointing a gun to my head because some other guy from my country made fun of some prophet from his religion I think I can be reasonably fucking fearful.

You cannot be rationally fearful?

Are you mortal? Do you feel pain, emotional and physical? Do you wish to keep your body and mind intact? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, fear under certain circumstances is perfectly rational. Just because emotions have the ability to be irrational doesn’t mean all emotions are irrational.

Moving on, I do not agree that fearing all religions is rational. There are certain religions, though few, which are completely inherently good and wholesome to believe. Jainism is an example, which puts compassion above all else, and advocates non-violence. However, it is not irrational to fear some religions, or even most. The majority of them, certainly the larger ones, have one primary mindset that causes innate conflict: This religion is right, and all those who do not believe in it are damned. Christianity (includes Catholicism) and Islam, the two religions arguably most responsible for religious violence in the world, each follow this mentality.

To the last point, that one must necessarily assume that all religious people are murderers and psychopaths if you wish to claim that religion is inherently destructive. This is asinine, there is nothing about this statement that is rational or logically justified. Simply saying that sentence doesn’t make it true. Religion demonstrably reinforces violent and divisive mindsets, the more religious a population is, the higher the crime rates, the lower societal health, the lower education and literacy all are. This is a demonstrable fact.
